Google Earth for WiFi Hostpot localization

Small Google Earth LSF Test - Click for Larger

I managed to play around a bit with Google Earth a little today (running the Windows version under Virtual PC on my Powerbook using OpenGL emulation - the native Mac version isn't ready yet), and I liked what I saw. I'm only just getting my feet wet in the world of Geomapping, but I can already see Google Earth (or other, similar tools) combining to form a killer app for me in a few different areas I'm working in.

In my soon-to-be-released 'Drupal for Community Wireless Groups' package, I created a custom node type using flexinode call 'Hotspots', which include such things as address, type of hotspot, location, and lattitude / longitude. Now, it's easy to create an RSS feed of any node type in Drupal. If a module is made to take that data, relay it to the users' Google Earth in KMZ format (or at least make a real-time KMZ file based on the RSS data that the user can download themselves and load with Google Earth... hmmmm...), then any community wireless / municipal wireless body could simply provide a real-time (because of the RSS), satellite-mapped (because of keyhole/GE), list of their hotspots / access points, in map format, text format and any other format they desire.
